New Delhi, 24th September 2020: Addressing the delegates at the Edutech 2020 organized by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), Dr. Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Aarin Capital and Manipal Global Education in his inaugural address said that amid the pandemic, the education sector has seen a massive shift globally. People have become reliant to technology in almost every industry but education saw a spike which also changed the perceived outlook.
Highlighting the rise of the EdTech companies in India, he said B2C business models have become successful and are likely to grow more in the near future. He stated that technology plays an imperative role and through it maximum of the content is generated and absorbed and mass consumed by the audience. He also highlighted that digital will be a game changer in the way education is delivered all across.
He also stated that by 2025 India will be a space for a large market in the EdTech sector with more than 100 million plus students likely to be impacted in a positive way. Dr Pai also highlighted that in these times, Indian Edtech companies have advanced themselves and gotten to a level at par with many foreign countries like USA, China and Japan
Talking of the National Education Policy and its impact on the industry, Dr. Pai gave an insight of how policy makers recognised the need of the hour and how NEP will in long run have a fruitful impact on the education sector with varying courses it will give access to new learning.
Dr. Anil Sahastrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) said, ‘Education was one of the sectors which continued at this point of time with more thrust in digital. Dr. Sahastrabudhe highlighted many benefits of the digital education and also stated that COVID was more like a blessing in disguise as it acted as an accelerator in digital transformation for the education sector. He pointed out distant learning in the coming years will be very beneficial and people living in remote area’s can easily access to complete varied across”.
Divya Gokulnath, Co-Founder BYJU’S said, “the behavioural shift did bring the EdTech Sector in the spotlight. The novel coronavirus was a hindrance for many sectors but it helped the EdTech sector to widen its spectrum and expand its reach, which in return turned out extremely fruitful. Online learning has become the New Learning. It turned as an opportunity many EdTech start-ups”.
The day-long conference with the theme ‘Tech for Education: Transforming Education Digitally’ focused on latest trends of the EduTech industry. Some of the key topics were the highlight of the conference are ‘Digital Learning: Making Education Affordable & Accessible’, ‘The Digitization of K-12 Education’, ‘Eye on Future: Using Gamification in Education’, ‘Online Test Preparation: Fastest-growing Market withing Edtech’ etc.
